About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Legionellosis Prevention and Control Technician to join our operations and maintenance team. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations related to the prevention and control of Legionella bacteria across various facilities and water systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing monitoring protocols, conducting risk assessments, and executing corrective actions to maintain safe environments in accordance with applicable legislation.

Core Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of water systems including cooling towers, hot and cold water systems, decorative fountains, and other potential sources of Legionella proliferation.
• Develop, implement, and maintain prevention and control programs in compliance with national and regional health and safety regulations.
• Perform regular water sampling and microbiological analysis to detect the presence of Legionella bacteria.
• Monitor and record water temperature levels, chemical treatment dosages, and system maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with facility management and maintenance teams to ensure timely execution of corrective and preventive measures.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation for regulatory compliance and internal audits.
• Provide training and awareness sessions for staff on Legionella prevention best practices.
• Stay up to date with evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards related to Legionellosis control.
• Manage and maintain chemical treatment programs including biocide and disinfectant dosing schedules.
• Respond to and investigate any suspected or confirmed Legionella outbreaks in coordination with health authorities.

Required Qualifications

• Certified training in Legionella prevention and control (minimum 30 hours as per regulatory requirements).
• Proven experience in water treatment, environmental health, or facility maintenance roles.
• Strong knowledge of Legionella bacteria biology, transmission pathways, and control methodologies.
• Familiarity with applicable health and safety legislation governing water system management.
• Ability to interpret technical data, laboratory results, and regulatory guidelines.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple sites and schedules.
• Proficiency in technical report writing and documentation management.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various facility locations.

Preferred Skills

• Additional certifications in occupational risk prevention or environmental management.
• Experience with ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 management systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems and their relationship to Legionella risk.
• Experience working in industrial, healthcare, or hospitality facility environments.
• Proficiency in data management software and digital monitoring tools.
• Strong communication skills for liaising with regulatory bodies, contractors, and internal teams.
