Linen & Laundry Attendant | Hotel Housekeeping
About the Role
Join a dynamic hotel housekeeping team as a Linen & Laundry Attendant, where attention to detail and commitment to exceptional guest experiences drive daily operations. This role is central to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and inventory control for all linens, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry across the property. Core Responsibilities
- Sort, wash, dry, press, fold, and inspect all hotel linens, towels, tablecloths, napkins, and staff uniforms according to established quality standards.
- Manage guest laundry and dry-cleaning requests: collect, tag, process, track, and return items promptly with accurate billing.
- Operate and maintain industrial laundry equipment (washers, dryers, ironers, folders) safely; perform routine cleaning and report malfunctions immediately.
- Monitor chemical dispensing systems, ensure correct detergent/softener ratios, and adhere to OSHA and SDS guidelines for chemical handling.
- Conduct daily inventory counts of linen stock; coordinate with Housekeeping and Purchasing for timely replenishment and par-level maintenance.
- Inspect all processed items for stains, tears, or wear; remove damaged pieces from circulation and document for replacement.
- Organize and maintain the laundry room, linen closets, and storage areas for optimal workflow, cleanliness, and safety compliance.
- Collaborate with Housekeeping Supervisors and Room Attendants to ensure seamless linen exchange and timely room turnover.
- Follow sustainability practices: optimize load sizes, reduce water/energy consumption, and participate in linen reuse programs.
- Assist with special projects such as banquet linen setups, spa towel preparation, or seasonal inventory audits as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Laundry Attendant, Linen Attendant, or similar role in a hotel, resort, or commercial laundry operation.
- Hands-on knowledge of industrial laundry machinery, fabric care, stain removal techniques, and chemical safety.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs), and perform repetitive motions (bending, reaching, pushing carts).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to hygiene and presentation standards.
- Basic English communication skills; ability to follow written instructions, safety labels, and checklists.
- Flexibility to work shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Skills
- Certification in Hospitality Housekeeping or Laundry Operations (e.g., AHLEI, City & Guilds).
- Experience with laundry management software or property management systems (OPERA, Maestro, HotSOS).
- Knowledge of eco-friendly laundry practices and green certification standards (Green Key, LEED).
- Multilingual ability (Arabic, English, Russian, German, French) for diverse guest interaction.
- Prior cross-training in Housekeeping Room Attendant or Public Area Attendant duties.
