Audio-Visual Media Cleaning Technician – Heritage Preservation

Responsible for cleaning and preparing audio‑visual media carriers (tapes, film reels, audio tapes) prior to digitization, ensuring careful handling and adherence to high standards.

• Receive, inspect, and clean media carriers using manual and mechanical tools following specific protocols.
• Identify and report any damage, mold, or magnetic layer issues.
• Label, track, and store carriers correctly before and after cleaning.
• Monitor cleaning stations, perform routine visual checks, and record procedures.
• Collaborate with imaging, ingestion, and restoration teams to ensure smooth workflow.

Requirements:

• High school diploma; technical or vocational diploma preferred.
• Experience handling delicate or archival media is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of media formats (U‑Matic, VHS, Betacam, audio tapes).
• Attention to detail, good record‑keeping, and basic Excel skills.
• Reliable, safety‑aware, able to work independently and in a team.
