Quality Lead - Mechanical
Role Overview

As a Quality Lead - Mechanical, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest quality standards across mechanical systems and components for our renewable energy projects in Egypt. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the global energy transition while working with a diverse, international team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities for renewable energy projects, including solar PV, wind, and storage systems.
- Develop and implement quality management plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and quality procedures in compliance with ISO 9001, IEC standards, and project specifications.
- Oversee incoming material inspections, in-process inspections, and final acceptance testing for mechanical equipment such as trackers, mounting structures, inverters, and balance-of-plant components.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to resolve non-conformances, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Perform supplier quality audits, vendor assessments, and factory acceptance tests (FAT) for critical mechanical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environment (HSE) requirements and integrate quality requirements into project execution plans.
- Prepare and present quality reports, dashboards, and KPIs to project management and stakeholders.
- Mentor and train quality engineers and inspectors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments (FMEA), and value engineering initiatives to optimize mechanical system reliability and performance.
- Manage quality documentation, including certificates of conformance, material test certificates, and punch lists.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., ASQ CQE, CMQ/OE, PMP) are a plus.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical quality assurance/control, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role within the renewable energy, power generation, or heavy industrial sector.
- Proven experience with utility-scale solar PV, wind, or battery storage projects.
- Deep knowledge of international codes and standards: ISO 9001, ASME, ASTM, AWS, IEC 61724, IEC 61400, and relevant Egyptian codes.
- Strong expertise in quality tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, 8D, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Experience with supplier quality management, including auditing, FAT/SAT, and vendor rating systems.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken); Arabic proficiency is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Egypt or the MENA region on renewable energy projects.
- Familiarity with Scatec's project lifecycle and quality governance framework.
- Certification in welding inspection (CSWIP, AWS CWI) or NDT methods.
- Experience with digital quality management systems (e.g., Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar).
- Knowledge of sustainability reporting and ESG frameworks.
