SoC System Architect - Cairo, Egypt | ASIC & Chip Design Architect

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced SoC System Architect to join our partner, a leading IT Services and IT Consulting firm in Cairo, Egypt. This role is pivotal in defining the architecture of complex System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions for cutting-edge products. You will drive the system-level design from concept to silicon, collaborating with cross-functional teams including RTL design, verification, physical design, and software engineering. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of processor architectures, interconnect fabrics, memory subsystems, power management, and performance optimization for high-performance or low-power SoCs.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and document SoC system architecture, including block-level specifications, interfaces, and performance targets.
• Lead architectural trade-off analysis for performance, power, area (PPA), and cost across multiple design options.
• Collaborate with RTL designers, verification engineers, and physical design teams to ensure architectural intent is realized.
• Develop and maintain system-level models (e.g., SystemC, C/C++, Python) for early software development and performance validation.
• Define memory hierarchy, cache coherency protocols, and interconnect topologies (AXI, ACE, CHI, etc.).
• Architect power management strategies including clock gating, power gating, DVFS, and sleep modes.
• Work closely with firmware and software teams to define boot flows, security architecture, and debug features.
• Participate in pre-silicon validation and post-silicon bring-up activities.
• Evaluate and integrate third-party IP (CPU, GPU, DSP, NPU, controllers) into the SoC.
• Drive innovation in areas such as heterogeneous computing, AI acceleration, and advanced packaging (chiplet, 3D IC).
• Mentor junior architects and engineers, promoting best practices in SoC design methodology.

Requirements

• Education: Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Experience: 10+ years of industry experience in SoC architecture or design, with at least 5 years in a lead architect role.
• Proven track record: Successful tape-out of multiple complex SoCs (28nm or below) in production.
• Deep expertise: Processor architectures (ARM, RISC-V, x86), AMBA protocols (AXI, ACE, CHI), cache coherency, memory controllers (DDR, LPDDR), and interconnects.
• Power/Performance: Strong background in low-power design techniques, power modeling, and performance analysis.
• Modeling & Simulation: Proficiency in SystemC, C/C++, Python, and scripting languages for architectural modeling.
• Tools: Familiarity with EDA tools for simulation, formal verification, and power analysis (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens).
• Communication: Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal); Arabic is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI/ML accelerator architectures (NPU, TPU) and heterogeneous SoC integration.
• Knowledge of advanced packaging technologies (chiplet, UCIe, HBM integration).
• Background in automotive (ISO 26262), industrial, or high-reliability SoC design.
• Familiarity with RISC-V ecosystem and custom instruction set extensions.
• Experience in agile hardware development methodologies and CI/CD for hardware.
