About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Phlebotomist / Sample Collection Technician to join Shams Medical Laboratories (معامل الشمس للتحاليل الطبية) for a full-time position conducting home visit sample collection across Egypt. This role plays a critical part in delivering diagnostic services directly to patients' homes, ensuring accurate specimen collection, proper handling, and timely transport to the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection from patients of all ages during scheduled home visits.
• Collect, label, and preserve various clinical specimens (blood, urine, swabs, etc.) according to standardized protocols.
• Ensure strict adherence to infection control, biosafety, and patient confidentiality standards (HIPAA/local regulations).
• Verify patient identity, test requisitions, and prepare appropriate collection tubes and equipment before each visit.
• Maintain accurate documentation of collection time, site, patient condition, and any deviations.
• Transport specimens to the laboratory under required temperature conditions (cold chain management).
• Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures, alleviate anxiety, and provide post-collection care instructions.
• Report any adverse events, sample rejection reasons, or logistical issues to the supervising lab manager promptly.
• Participate in ongoing competency assessments and continuing education programs.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Nursing, or related health science field.
• Valid professional license/certification as a Phlebotomist or Laboratory Technician from the Egyptian Ministry of Health or recognized body.
• Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience in venous blood draws and specimen collection, preferably in home healthcare or outpatient settings.
• Proficiency in aseptic technique, proper tube order of draw, and sample labeling (barcode/patient ID).
• Possess a valid Egyptian driving license and ability to travel to patient locations within assigned governorates.
• Strong communication skills in Arabic; English is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, manage schedule efficiently, and handle physical demands of mobile phlebotomy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and mobile data entry.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or first aid.
• Familiarity with cold chain logistics for temperature-sensitive specimens.
• Previous work in home healthcare agencies or laboratory outreach programs.
