I&C Maintenance Engineer - Instrumentation & Control - Siemens Energy - Kafr El Sheikh, Baltim

About the Role

Siemens Energy S.A.E. is seeking an experienced I&C Maintenance Engineer to join the Gas Services organization within the Service Middle East business unit. This position is based in Baltim, Kafr El Sheikh, Egypt and involves maintaining instrumentation and control systems for gas turbine packages and associated equipment at client sites. The role plays a critical part in ensuring operational reliability, safety compliance, and optimal performance of power generation assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation and control systems including DCS, PLC, SCADA, and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex I&C faults on gas turbine control packages, compressors, and balance-of-plant equipment.
• Execute calibration, testing, and commissioning of field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level, vibration, gas detection).
• Develop and update maintenance procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation in line with Siemens Energy standards and client requirements.
• Coordinate with operations, mechanical, and electrical teams during outages, shutdowns, and emergency repairs.
• Analyze system alarms, trends, and diagnostics to implement predictive maintenance strategies.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, and international standards (IEC 61508, IEC 61511, API, NFPA).
• Provide technical support for spare parts management, vendor coordination, and obsolescence planning.
• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for critical equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Support training and knowledge transfer for junior technicians and client personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in I&C maintenance within oil & gas, power generation, or petrochemical industries.
• Proven expertise with gas turbine control systems (Siemens SPPA-T3000, T3000, or equivalent OEM platforms).
• Strong proficiency in DCS/PLC programming and configuration (Siemens PCS7, S7-300/400/1500, Allen-Bradley, Honeywell).
• In-depth knowledge of field instrumentation, smart transmitters, control valves, actuators, and fire & gas detection systems.
• Experience with vibration monitoring systems (Bently Nevada, SKF) and condition-based maintenance tools.
• Familiarity with IEC 61850, Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, and industrial Ethernet protocols.
• Valid certifications in functional safety (TÜV FS Engineer) or relevant vendor training are highly advantageous.
• Ability to work in remote site environments, rotational shifts, and respond to emergency call-outs.
• Fluent in English; Arabic language proficiency is a strong plus for local coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Control Systems or Engineering Management.
• Project management experience (PMP or Prince2).
• Previous work with Siemens Energy or OEM service organizations in the Middle East region.
• Knowledge of digitalization tools: asset performance management (APM), digital twins, remote monitoring platforms.
