HVAC Technician – Oil & Gas Experience Required | Qatar

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Technician with a strong background in the Oil and Gas sector to join our team in Qatar. The ideal candidate must be locally available in Qatar and hold a valid Qatar ID (QID). This role requires technical expertise, reliability, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team on critical infrastructure projects.

Core Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems including chillers, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), split units, and packaged units in Oil and Gas facilities.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Conduct routine inspections of HVAC systems, identifying potential issues and recommending solutions before they escalate.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to execute installations and repairs accurately.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system faults using appropriate testing instruments and diagnostic tools.
• Ensure all work complies with Qatar safety regulations, industry standards, and company HSE policies.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service reports, and equipment records.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other trades to ensure seamless project execution.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns promptly and efficiently to restore system functionality.
• Handle refrigerant charging, recovery, and leak testing in compliance with environmental regulations.
• Support commissioning and startup activities for new HVAC installations on Oil and Gas sites.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HVAC Technician with a minimum of 3–5 years in the Oil and Gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of industrial and commercial HVAC systems, including large-capacity chillers, VRF systems, and centralized air conditioning plants.
• Familiarity with Oil and Gas facility environments, including offshore and onshore installations.
• Ability to read and work from P&IDs, HVAC drawings, and control diagrams.
• Working knowledge of electrical controls, BMS (Building Management Systems), and PLC-based HVAC controls.
• Certification in refrigerant handling is preferred.
• Must be locally available in Qatar with a valid Qatar ID (QID).
• Good command of English (written and verbal) for reporting and communication purposes.
• Physically fit and able to work in challenging environments, including confined spaces, elevated platforms, and extreme weather conditions.
• Valid Qatar driving license is an advantage.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Daikin, Carrier, Trane, York, or equivalent HVAC equipment brands.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and international HVAC codes.
• Experience in energy optimization and efficiency improvement of HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with NFPA, ATEX, and IEC standards relevant to hazardous area classifications.
• Ability to work rotational shifts and be available for on-call duties.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
