About the Role

QatarEnergy is seeking a highly experienced Principal Trader with a focus on Optimization to join our dynamic team in Doha, Qatar. This critical role is responsible for maximizing the value of QatarEnergy’s extensive LNG portfolio, encompassing LNG, gas, shipping, storage, and regasification capacity. You will be at the forefront of implementing QatarEnergy’s strategic LNG trading initiatives, driving efficiency and profitability in a complex global market.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize the trading of QatarEnergy’s LNG portfolio, including LNG, natural gas, shipping, storage, and regasification assets.
• Implement and refine QatarEnergy’s LNG trading strategies to enhance portfolio value and market position.
• Analyze market trends, identify trading opportunities, and execute trades to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
• Manage risks associated with LNG trading activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and market regulations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including commercial, shipping, and technical teams, to ensure seamless portfolio management.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key market participants, counterparties, and brokers.
• Monitor and report on portfolio performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in LNG trading, with a strong emphasis on portfolio optimization.
• Proven track record of successfully managing and optimizing complex energy trading portfolios.
• In-depth understanding of global LNG markets, shipping dynamics, and related infrastructure.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and decision-making skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
