L3 System Engineer | Linux Infrastructure

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced L3 System Engineer specializing in Linux infrastructure to join our infrastructure and technical operations team. This senior-level position focuses on resolving complex technical issues, optimizing system performance, and ensuring high availability of critical Linux-based environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in enterprise Linux administration, automation, and large-scale system architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Level 3 escalation support for complex Linux system incidents and service requests
• Design, implement, and maintain high-availability Linux clusters and containerized environments
• Perform advanced performance tuning and capacity planning for production systems
• Develop and maintain automation frameworks using Ansible, Python, or Bash for infrastructure provisioning
• Manage configuration management and infrastructure-as-code pipelines
• Conduct root cause analysis for critical outages and implement preventive measures
• Collaborate with DevOps and development teams on CI/CD pipeline optimization
• Administer enterprise Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) at scale
• Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
• Manage storage systems, file systems, and backup/recovery strategies
• Enforce security hardening, patch management, and compliance standards
• Mentor junior engineers and create technical documentation

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience in enterprise environments
• 3+ years at L3/Subject Matter Expert level handling critical escalations
• Advanced proficiency with RHEL/CentOS and Ubuntu administration
• Strong experience with virtualization (KVM, VMware) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Proven expertise in automation tools: Ansible, Terraform, or similar
• Deep understanding of networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, load balancing, firewalls
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures
• Solid scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go
• Familiarity with database administration (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements (CIS benchmarks, PCI-DSS)
